BLOGPOLL:  John McCain’s surprise VP pick

By Amy Wood
Friday, August 29, 2008

Senator John McCain pulls off one of the best kept secrets in politics.

He suprises everyone with the choice of Alaska’s Governor as his Vice Presidential running mate.

Sarah Palin has been in office as Governor for two years, with a reputation as a reformer, who takes on the good old boy system.  She’s a mother of five.  Her oldest leaving to serve in Iraq.  Her youngest born in April, a downs syndrome baby.

She’s the Republican party’s first ever woman Vice Presidential candidate.

You can read much more about her background here.

And vote in my blogpoll, how do you feel about the pick.  Post your comments below and click into CW LIVE CHAT during the news at 10.

Hats off to John McCain!!! He nailed it. Alas, a true conservative to pull for. I would rather Gov. Palin be running for President than Sen. McCain but I can’t change that. If McCain wins this election and winds up a 1 term President, could we be in for a woman vs woman ticket in 2012 with Hillary and Sarah? Talk about history being made.

Can I vote for her and forget about the rest? She seems the best of the lot.

DEFINITELY a Wise Decision for McCain!  When I first heard the news, I was jumping with excitement!  My 14 year old daughter has also been following the campaign and She was Thrilled as well.

Being a nay sayer of McCain and Obama, I think I have settled on voting for McCain.  This woman seems to be what he needs to pull this one off.  She seems to be genuine, strong willed, and truly conservative (and she is not afraid to fight big government, either.) I still don’t really like McCain, but I really like this woman.

Boy won’t Hillary be upset should McCain get the Presidency and something happen to him.  She would not be the first woman president as she has always thought she would!!

Up until McCain made his selection, the entire race was depressing.  Now, I have someone to vote for, pray for, and support.  Obviously McCain is a lot smarter than we thought!  I am very excited!
