By Amy Wood
Monday, September 01, 2008

The messages on twitter, myspace and facebook are endless.  There is a quite a buzz about the news that Governor Sarah Palin’s 17 year old daughter is 5 months pregnant.

Bristol Palin reportedly plans to marry the father.

The Vice Presidential hopeful confirmed what had been rumored on the internet for days.

John McCain was aware of the pregnancy prior to making his VP pick.  He says it’s a family matter.

Gov. Palin is asking for privacy for her daughter.

So do you think it’s disastrous for the Republican ticket, or no big deal?  Vote in our blogpoll and post your comments.

Ya know, who cares?  The daughter is not running for office (and so what if she was), and shame on the ones that forced this out in the public.  Palin seems to be a really genuine, really caring lady.  We need to leave her family alone.  None of the families need to be brought into the elections - what good does it do to bring in what someone’s daughter, cousins, nephew, grandma, uncle, or whoever did?

My prayers are with Sarah Palin and her family.  As a parent, I can emphasize with her pain, and hope that she and her husband are allowed to handle this matter privately.  Let the matter be private.  Leave her family alone!

This is totally a family issue, not a political issue. The mainstream media is making more noise over this than natural disaster that could have happened in Louisiana. Shame on them!!! What about Joe Biden’s history of plagerism. Why is that not making headlines. Let’s stick to the issues concerning governing this country so we can chose our next President.

I do agree that the issue should be private, but with the teen pregnancy epidemic right now this does not look good on McCain.  Having a President and Vice-President that tell you that teen pregnancy is wrong when the daughter of the VP is a teen mom is hypocritical.  I think since McCain knew about this prior to his decision, he’s going to get a lot of grief for it.

It’s nice to see that there presidential candidates that have stuff like this going on in their lives. Nobody has a whatever people wanna think they have, “A PERFECT FAMILY!”

I think it’s time for the Palins and the McCain campaign to realize that this is just not going to work out.  Sarah needs to go hone and tend to her family’s needs.  I hate to see the negativity and judgments that are being posted about the Palin family.  Tragedies like this happen in the best of families, and should not reflect on the parenting abilities of the Palins.

However, Sarah’s responsibilities are at home.  Her infant son and her teen daughter will have needs that are almost unimaginable.  Sarah is still young and has many years ahead to become a shining star in the Republican party, if that is her destiny.

I hope that all Republicans will release Sarah from her commitment to the presidential ticket.  I hope that all Democrats will have enough sensitivity to leave her and her family alone.

Sarah, thank you for your willingness to serve your party.  But your real service needs to be to your family.

(And, by the way, I would say the same thing if it were Bristol’s and Trig’s father on the ticket.)

Who cares if this girl is pregnant, it’s not our business. Teen pregnancy is an issue so the VP’s daughter is no diffrent that anyone else. Look at the teenage girls who looked up to Brittany Spears sister they may think it’s ok since Jamie had a baby. But whatcha going do. Dare them to have sex. Lock them up until there 35. NO!!!

Come on!  Since when is the creation of life by our maker considered “tragic???”  Yes, it is a hard situation, but we must remember that God creates life and nothing He does should ever be considered a tragedy NOR should a baby ever be considered a tragedy!  Guess that is the thinking of way too many mothers out there and that must be why too many of them choose to kill their babies (ie..Susan Smith, Caysee Anthony, and the list goes on and on…)

I agree to leave the family out of it.  They aren’t running, SHE is!!!  We weren’t born walking on water!!! :)  (*Only Jesus does that*)
They have my vote!!
DEF. NOT OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Still voting for Obama, but I think this is a private, family matter.  I don’t think the daughter’s pregnancy is any reflection on her mother’s ability to do the job, but I think life will be alot tougher for two young future parents who already have their hands full because of the media scrutiny.  I never wondered whether of not John McCain made an informed decision to choose Palin.  No one would have been dumb enough to try to hide this.  I wonder whether or not there was a Palin family meeting where everyone was allowed to speak freely before the decision to run was made.  The baby isn’t going to adversely affect our nation, but under these circumstances, our nation could adversely affect the baby.

Not that this is the order in which God intended, but God didn’t intend for us to kill a life because we feel we are too young and it would ‘mess’ up our lives or if the baby is somewhat other than perfect. I applaud Bristol Palin’s decision to have and to raise her baby and I hope and pray that the baby’s parents will be committed to it’s proper raising and to each other. I also applaud Gov. Sarah Palin’s decison to have the child that has Down Syndrome. I can’t believe that God didn’t intend to bring something to this world through this beautiful child’s life, even though it may be short. Yes, I’m Pro-life and proud of it. And the partial-birth abortion issue shouldn’t even be open for disscussion. Thank You.
