Diabetes at any age, is a rough diagnosis.  But when you are a teen pop star in the middle of a rocket like climb to fame, Nick Jonas, (on the right)  tells fans it’s pretty much a mind blower.

The 15 year old just recently performed in Charlotte.  Nick also performs with his brothers Joe and Kevin next week as their road tour heads to Atlanta.

Many teen girls from our area endlessly scream for their heartthrobs, and they’re getting alot more than music out of the Jonas Brothers concert.  They’re getting an education on Diabetes.

The Jo Bros spend a signficant portion of the concert, talking about Nick’s diabetes.  My daughter was at the Charlotte show and he showed film clips of the insulin pump he must wear, how he has to eat carefully, and emphasized how his mom plays a huge role, keeping him on track.

Their new album is out, with a song Nick wrote about his diabetes experience.  It’s titled “A Little Bit Longer”  which is also the title of the new Jonas Brothers Album released today.  When he performed it in Charlotte, he was near tears, telling his diabetes story.

Nick Jonas found out 2 years ago he has http://diabetes.about.com/od/whatisdiabetes/p/type1diabetes.htm” title=“type 1 diabetes”>type 1 diabetes.  His brothers saw him lean forward and noticed his bones showing, revealing a tremendous amount of weight loss, one of the http://diabetes.about.com/od/symptomsdiagnosis/p/Symptoms.htm” title=“signs of diabetes”>signs of diabetes.

We have a HUGE problem with diabetes in South Carolina.  So this is a message of particular importance to our young people.  They will be tomorrow’s adults. South Carolina is ranked 3rd highest for adult diabetes in the nation.

We’re sorry Nick Jonas has to go through life with Diabetes, but should be thankful he’s taking such a public path, to spread the word and educate our children.

No one is immune to diseases and trials - no matter who they are.  God puts us in the positions He puts us in for His reasons.  Maybe He put Nick Jonas in this position so that he could help educate and inform other using his celebrity status.
