Welcome back girls! I was so excited about the return of fresh new episodes and this one was a nice way to get back into the swing of things. Rory has come home from her visit to Logan (where we totally missed any fighting that was a result of his tude during their dinner with Lucy and Marty but oh well) and Lorelai has saved Christmas for her. The banter was back, the funny traditions were back, heck even Paul Anka had a scene or two!
Now for my problem with the episode—is it just me or was this episode hijacked by some pretty unfunny offspring? First we had Gigi and her lisp trying to dominate every darn scene in the house—I mean, can’t she stay with her mom in Paris forever? She’s cute and all, but she’s no Gilmore Girl. Then of course we had to deal with April—sneaking to see Luke and then complaining about her Christmas present. And then Lane being suddenly 8 months pregnant with twins. Sigh. Hopefully from now on the show will focus on the older members of the cast, and we won’t have to watch Gigi galloping around Yale with Lane’s babies in a stroller or something like that.
Anyway, good episode overall, and jeez did that scene in the Discovery Store where Rory and Luke are reminiscing about past birthdays really hit home how much of a family those three really are. Lorelai’s letter was good for a tear or two as well, and I think we can see where this is headed…
What do you guys think? Am I being a crumudgeon about Gigi? Do you think that Lorelai is going to ruin her relationship with Christopher? Until next week!
