Fighting Crime

By Amy Wood
Wednesday, April 11, 2007

Having just recently had a car broken into, I can relate to the need to fight crime where you live.  There’s nothing worse than being victimized on your home turf.  But tonight we’re showing you a couple that’s taken the crime watch concept to new heights.  They’ve gone high tech.  We’re talking camera’s, floodlights, and he and his wife monitor what’s going on in the neighborhood constantly.  And if they spot trouble they alert police.  So would you go this far?  What do you think it will take to protect your community.  Join the conversation. I’ll see you on Your CW News at Ten.

HOLD ON TO YOUR RIGHT TO PRIVACY! I’M ALL FOR KEEPING THE HOODS OUT OF MY ‘HOOD BUT CAMERAS,FLOODLIGHTS AND SOME GUYS OLD LADY SNEEKING A PEEK AT ME- I’M NOT SURE. I LIVE IN THE SIX MILE STICKS AND WOULD FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE HAVING SOMEONES WIFE WATCHING ME FEED MY CAT IN THE MOURNINGS WHILE STILL IN MY GRUNGIES.

Then don’t feed your cat in your “grungies.” hehe

Personally, I don’t think securing your home with high tech devices is a bad thing. Criminals would think twice before entering a neighborhood if they knew that web cams, etc. were watching their every move.

As long as the cameras are only trained on your property and not infringing on your neighbors property it should not create a privacy issue.

Somebody likes to hang out beside my mail-box at night.  I know this because from time to time, they leave cigarette butts and beer-cans.  It’s the same brand in the same spot first thing in the morning, so it isn’t random.  I hate that they’re there, and my dog, a barker anyway, is absolutely ballistic about it.  If I could afford the cameras, I would use them because I think it would be a deterrant and my dog, and consequently the whole neighborhood, would sleep much better.
