Gas BLOGPOLL - are you driving around looking for the stuff?

By Amy Wood
Tuesday, September 23, 2008

I did it last weekend.  Wondering what it will be like next time I fill up.  Especially after the shots we showed you on News Channel 7 of people lining up for over a mile in some places, to get gas.

Just like so many of you, I dad to go pump to pump, looking for my grade of gas.  Now some folks are going station to station and finding nothing.

Some folks are reporting fights at gas stations in Asheville.  Stations bone dry in other communities.  Is that what you’re finding?

Vote and let us know if you’re driving around on fumes looking for the next tank?

And if you’re frustrated beyond belief, vent here in the comments section!

Laurens has just about become a dry county..All the decent gas stations are completely out and the hole in the wall stations are down to one grade and it is going FAST.  The stations that do have gas is charging $3.89 and up.

Crude oil went up $25 per barrel today and actually touched $130 at one point.  This insanity HAS TO STOP!!  Someone somewhere in government HAS to take action or the economy is going to be worse off than ever before and we are all going to starve!

Amy !  I was just now sitting eating supper and liked to have gotten choked, by the way it was announced about the ” no electricity to pump gas.”...

This is SAD.  the oil drilling   because of the hurricane I can understand…  But I can not understand no generstors to pump the oil.  while they hike up the price to $16.00 more.. I don’t know whether to laugh, or cry this is so stupid and sad.  They bring in eloven billion
of dollars a quarter and can’t buy back-up generators to pump the gas??????? should I laugh, cry or just plain get angry at the way the oil people are doing???  Or did I misunderstand???

Okay, I have been past mad!!! I work in asheville and live 30 minutes away from my job. I waited in line for 2 hours and still didn’t get gas.I drove completely through town and still didn’t find any gas. I drive all the way home and made it to get my children. Soon as I pulled into my driveway I ran out. So how are we supposed to survive if you can’t get to work???

has anyone else noticed how much the price has fluctuated in the past week up 20 cents down 30 cents - it’s nuts.

Boy was I lucky today!  Just as I pulled into Costco, the attendant removed the “out” sign and the gas tanker was pulling away!

I don’t know where you folks are going but Laurens and Clinton have gas.  Since last weekend I have been topping my tank off after I’ve used around 1/4 a tank.  Have had no trouble whatsoever at ANY station.  Today at El Cheapo in Laurens it was 3.59 a gallon. Don’t wait until you’re almost empty folks, keep it topped off.  Plus I’m a firm believer that gas is gas.

I am sorry for those out there that are having to search for gas.  We are one of the most priviledged richest nations in the world and we can’t even keep our economy at a level where our people should not need to suffer for anything! Let alone look for gas!!! Keep this in mind: Bush says if congress passes a bill to allow off shore drilling he would veto it. Know why? because Bush has stock in foreign oil.  When we stopped being dependent on foreign oil all the greedy stock holders would lose mass amounts of money, especially the BUSHES.  Never mind us little people scrambling around to petrol our cars to make it to work, pick up our kids, go to the doctor/dentist, visit someone run errands etc .  Better yet just drive my car to do what I want to do, its mine and gas should be available at any time we need it
