Guns on Buses
By Amy Wood

When you hear about a gun on a bus, you probably think rare, unusual circumstance. Nothing to worry about.
But let me put this in perspective for you. The gun was found on a bus this morning in the upstate, was packed with 4th graders from Skyland Elementary in Greenville County. It had apparently been tucked into a wheel well, hidden there for who knows what.
In just a quick internet search tonight, I learned a loaded gun was found on a bus in Florida Thursday. And earlier today a student fired a gun out of a window on a school bus in Texas.

In my opinion, these separate incidents that are just coincidences. It just goes to show that somebody isn’t doing enough to protect children on school buses these days. A daily inspection needs to happen everyday.
Amy,
“News Channel 7 has learned once students were safe, sheriff’s deputies actually fired the gun in front of them to make sure it was real.”
Several questions:
Who determined that the students were “safe” from gun fire, noise and flying debris etc. caused by it?
What exactly was the proper backstop that sheriff’s deputies used to discharge a round into?
Were ALL present (children, school officials etc.) wearing proper eye and ear protection?
Who determined that it was necessary to prove to school children that the gun was real?
On a less critical note were all vehicles nearby protected from flying debris caused by discharging a round?
I have friends in law enforcement and I am as pro police (and pro 2nd amendment) as anyone around, but this, if true, is at the least very stupid, and probably highly negligent.
If this was a BB gun, it is not as much a problem. But if it was a metallic cartridge rimfire or centerfire revolver or semi-automatic hand gun, I would want to hear these issues addressed.
Thank you for your time.
