I’d rather be in purgatory

Tonight’s episode centered around Richard…I think.  It began with Lorelai getting a call and running to the hospital to find Rory looking shattered.  My mind immediately wondered how Lorelai beat Emily to the hospital—completely implausible! When Emily arrive in athletic gear ranting about the staff at the club, it was explained that she was not informed of Richard’s condition until 45 minutes after the initial phone call. Oh, ok.

Logan made his heroic arrival; and I have to admit that he did look smashing in his business attire and new, less spiky hair.  Was anyone else confused about his whereabouts? Is he in London? In New York? The Hamptons? Who knows, and who cares, as long as he swooshes in and provides Rory and Lorelai with coffee, eh?

Luke also made a heroic appearance, only to be treated like the help by Emily. Watching Luke take it and then actually do the requested errands was a bit sad (is he proving his love? his heroicness? is that a word?) and it was obvious that we were supposed to compare and contrast Luke and Christopher during this crisis, but thank goodness, in the end Christopher showed up.

Christopher showed up and petulantly told Luke to leave, and then of course gave Lorelai grief about it.  Emily shrewdly told her that things will be ok, and then hilariously spat out several cliches such as “blood is thicker than water.” Cheers to Kelly Bishop for making Emily’s panic at the hospital such a delicious and annoying cross of elitism, social planning, and nuttiness. She is someone we love to hate, and love to forgive when she shows a softer, more tolerable side.

Some snippets for the future that seem to be warning signs that I caught were: Logan using his own money for an investment (ruh roh! someone might be living in the Gilmore’s pool house—and by someone I mean a broke Logan. Is he still cute without the porsche?) Christopher glaring so angrily at Luke and giving Lorelai a hard time in the midst of the emergency. And not to forget, the Gilmore house is full of fish at the moment so that will be interesting.  Did anyone catch anything else?
