Gilmore Girls: Knit or Go Home

Wow.  So a lot happened during this episode.  It seems like the episode was a push-pull the whole way—one individual pushing against another, a town resisting something, or, in Liz’s case a whole lotta pushing to get baby Doula out.

A return to the Gilmore house for Friday night dinners started us out where we got to see a very cheerful Emily and Richard toast to the happy couple.  And give them wolf girl. (Let’s take a moment to giggle at that.)  Emily also got Lorelai to acquiesce to having a party thrown in their honor to celebrate.  Back in Stars Hollow, a Knit-A-Thon was underway to replace the once-replaced Muddy River Bridge, and Christopher was having trouble winning over the citizens of the adorable hamlet.  Everyone was very cordial to him, but as Lorelai put it, no one tried to ‘pinch his butt.’ To try to win everyone over, Lorelai has Christopher dress in his least-metrosexual and go on a “mandate” with Jackson as well as put in some face-time with some other people in town.  Christopher, being the bubbly, ever-accepting fellow that he is, thinks that things are going great, and even goes so far as to save the day by buying out the knit-a-thon.  As everyone packs up their stuff and bails on the now-defunct ritual, Christopher is no closer to winning over the town.

In Rory news, there was a 2002 themed birthday party with lots of fun posters and Pink playing.  Marty finally comes around and talks with Rory—ending up with his inappropriate comment that she is beautiful as ever complete with googly eyes.  So again, things are very awkward between the two of them.  Speaking of awkward, we did get to witness some seriously wicked dancing on the part of Paris and Doyle.

Finally, Luke’s sister Liz had her baby—at home, and they duly named her Doula (classic on their part.) Holding his new niece, Luke realized that he was going to fight for his rights with April.  He immediately went to Anna’s house and warned her that he was willing to fight for his rights as a dad.  Good for him for standing up to her, because he had definitely let Anna dictate his life for the past year or so.

Lorelai and Christopher are still not really growing on me, but they seem to be trying really hard to make it work out.  Nonetheless, I see a split in the future—I don’t know why, but we can’t have watched Luke and Lorelai for five years just to have it end up like this! Can we?

I dont understand why everyone is being so weird to Christopher. Sukie said that Lorelai married an outsider but I mean come on, aside from Luke who else in the town would be good enough for her or even eligible? She never dated anyone except Luke from Stars Hollow why all the fuss now. On a side note I think Paul Anka must have doggie flu becuase he has been missing in action the past few weeks.

Lorelai dated more people than that—remember Jason and she was engaged to Max. Christopher is exactly like Emily and Richard (big city/snobby) so maybe that’s why they are being weird.
