Make Ups and Break Ups

Although I found myself thoroughly enjoying this episode (if not enjoying Christopher AT ALL) at the end when I was sitting down to write this blog, I realized that not much happened tonight.  Paul Anka did get some pretty extensive face time (is David Rosenthal reading this?) however Gigi was absent, as was Lane (and her biiiig fakepregnantbelly) and most of Stars Hollow.

In lieu of having Gigi’s presence in the Gilmore/Hadyen household, we got to see Christopher acting like a child. While putting up a flat screen tv in the house he comes across the rough copy of Lorelai’s character reference for Luke.  The letter describes Luke as basically the antithesis of Christopher; loyal, dependable, and a father-figure for Rory.  This drives Christopher crazy and he accuses Lorelai of pining away for Luke.  For me, it was the saddest thing to see and hear Lorelai tell Christopher that she is not in love with Luke, and that she chooses him….only to watch him storm out of the house. And not come back. Oh Christopher, dumb dumb dumb…

Meanwhile, Rory is back at Yale and dealing with (or watching Paris deal with) the idea of graduating. It is hilarious and yet so true to watch Paris try to cover all of her bases for different interviews, grad schools, and contacts but Rory seems much more interested in her fight with Lucy.  Now this is just weird to me because the girl who was freaking out about college applications back in her Chilton days is now about as interested in her future as a ten year old is in seeing Babel.  And what is the fixation on Lucy?? We hardly even know Lucy! Or care! By the end of the afternoon, they have made up but an interesting tidbit is thrown out there; Lucy and Marty broke up. Does that mean we will see Marty hovering around Rory sometime soon?

Lastly, Sookie realized—after Lorelai and Jackson of course, that she was pregnant.  Apparently Jackson did not get the vasectomy that we all thought he got, and as a result Sookie got pregnant.  If I was Sookie, I would be a little more than miffed over that huge breach of trust, but I guess we are supposed to find it quaint or cute.  Luke and Anna went to court over April (who thankfully, was absent) and Luke ranted at the judge in a seriously annoying way, but wound up winning shared custody of April. Yay? So we get to see some more of her.

The last three minutes of the show had Richard having what seemed like a heart attack during a lecture at Yale.  I haven’t heard any rumors about Richard dying, so I am thinking that he is going to be ok, but from the commercials for next week’s episode, it proves as a chance to show what a loyal friend Luke is and what a pouty baby Christopher can be (haha but no bias from me, right?)

Until next week…
