The executive director of the Miss South Carolina pageant has bonded out of jail after being arrested on a sex charge.
Joey Sanders faces criminal sexual conduct charges. He’s accused of sexually assaulting a 9 year old girl, while at a Comfort Inn in Easley in 2005.
Officials say the activity did not relate to the pageant. But as a mom who just had a daughter in the Palmetto Princess Program, where girls are paired with contestants in the pageant.. girls ages 4 to 14.. news like this sends a chill through your bones.
The courts must give Joey Sanders his day in court. His attorney tells the paper he will be exonerated.
A woman is also under arrest in the case charged with unlawful conduct toward a child. Anita Gearhart is listed on the pageant website as being in charge of The Miss Northern Scholarship Program, a local pageant director.

I thought he looked sleazy when he got in trouble last year.
Just goes to show you~ can never be too careful with your children. I feel like parents should be more informative to their children at a younger age. Teach them that no one touches you anywhere unless it is a doctor and a parent is in the room.
WHERE IS THE MOM IN THIS SITUATION? WHO LETS THEIR 9 YEAR OLD GO TO A HOTEL WITH ANYONE?
When will our kids ever be safe again???
Our kids will be safe again, Trooper, when their parents actually start parenting and watching and knowing where their kids are at all times. AND when that is not possible, that they leave their kids with a responsible adult that will do as such. Although we cannot trust ANYONE with our children, we must equipt our children with the knowledge of what to do if there is an instance when we cannot be with them. Remember the old School House Rock theme - KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!!
