Peanut Butter Recall
By Amy Wood
Thursday, February 15, 2007
Peter Pan and Great Value brand peanut butter is under voluntary recall by Con Agra Foods. The jars affected have a product code on the lid that begins with 2111. There have been close to 300 people nationwide who’ve gotten salmonella linked to the peanut butter. 6 cases are confirmed in South Carolina, one of them in Greenville. They advise you to throw away the peanut butter and if you want a refund you have to send the lid from your jar back to Con Agra, the postage at your expense.
You can learn more on the Con Agra website.

this morning when i got up i fixed a few peanut butter crackers, to eat with my coffee. i have high blood-sugar and take lots of meds. in morning so i eat peanut butter to keep blood level from dropping. as soon as i took a bite it told about it but did not give a name or number. i later found out i had been eating pb with that number.
I have a jar of this peanut butter but the number is not on the lid !! Its on the jar itself up near the top, close to the lid .
Hi Amy. I had read about the recall on the net last night then saw the report on the am news. I have eaten nearly a whole jar of Peter Pan Creamy without any problem, and the first four numbers are 2111. I also have a new jar that I am now afraid to eat. I noticed on your report a few minutes ago that the woman interviewed had eaten the crunchy peanut butter. I’m wondering if that could make a difference. Thanks.
Bobby…
Thanks for pointing out that the number can apparently appear on the side of the jar as well. We’ll pass it on. Thanks for the comments. Keep them coming.
