Perseid Meteor Shower - did you get a look?

Did you go out to check out the Perseid Meteor Shower last night?

Chief Meteorologist Christy Henderson warned us to be up late, past 2:48 a.m. when the moon sets and 630 a.m. when the sun rises.

I was up around 2am and gave it a shot.

The bummer is I used a cell phone video cam in the pitch dark.

What my crummy camera couldn’t show you was the streaks of light across the sky.  It was a subtle but pretty show when I watched.  What about you?  Did you get up early, or go to bed late?

Our Chief Meteorologist, Christy Henderson, explained more about what we saw.

What are the Perseid Meteors?  They are pieces of dust that come from the comet tail of Swift-Tuttle.  They race into the earth’s atmosphere at 132,000 miles per hour, and as they burn up in the atmosphere they create the beautiful streak of light that we can see.

I love astronomy almost as much as I love studying weather. Thanx for story.

I would have loved to see this, but I barely make it to and through the news at 10!
