Rowdy Teens at Falls Park lead to curfew - have you run into them?  Are you one of them?

Rowdy teens taking over Falls Park in Greenville on the weekends.

Have you run into them?  Are you one of them?

We’re interested in your stories about the problem that’s left business owners complaining.  They say their customers are being disturbed by the teen crowds.

This saturday the city is putting a curfew in place, banning teens under 18 from being downtown after 9 at night unless they’re with an adult.

Monday city council will debate adding a full time curfew.

I was downtown this past weekend and it was horrible. I really dont think the curfew is going to help because these kids dont have any home training. Falls park is a beautiful place but in my opinion I think its safer to enjoy the park during to day than at night.

I’m all for it; however, I believe it should be more restrictive than just 9pm. It should be for all city parks since this is a problem in Cleveland Park too. It should be 7pm Sunday - Thursday and 9pm on Friday and Saturday. Just go park in Cleveland Park at about 6:30ish and wait… you’ll feel unsafe pretty quickly.

I think that we should just put a curfew and send away the teens from the park, but use the gathering as a good thing. If we drive away the teen where are they going to go next? Offer something for them to do… not punish them for wanting to hang out and have something to do. Take advantage of the oportunity.

We were all teens one day, too, and Laurens made an ordinance for us to stay off of the public square which was our hang out.  That only made things worse.  We then found secluded places and even more fights and things broke out without any patroling being there.  I think that the area should have more patrolling and the teens should have more parenting.
