Storm Scams - Sad but true!

By Amy Wood
Tuesday, September 02, 2008

You have to be a pretty sorry excuse for a human being to try to scam people who’ve just lost everything in a storm.

But it happens.

And with Gustav’s damage and Hannah now threatening the Carolina coast… we want to warn you of the danger.

Scam artists will try and target you, by posing as legitimate help groups.

So you need to do your homework.

Here are some important links to check out any charity.

    The Secretary of State’s office
    Give.org

You can also donate to FEMA through the Aid Matrix Network

Unfortunately people will do anything for quick money, so I only give to my church or the Red Cross for disaster causes. I don’t trust anyone else.

I may seem wrong but I will only give to the red cross. I just don’t trust anyone nowdays so if I don’t know them from name the charity doesn’t get my money.
