Suspect Bond

By Amy Wood
Friday, March 02, 2007

Allenna Ward, is a middle school teacher, fired when school officials started investigating allegations she was involved with her students.  Police found enough evidence to charge her with sexual involvement with 5 young students at Bell Street Middle School in Clinton.  And Friday she got out of jail after her bond was set at 110 thousand dollars.

Meantime a marshall arts instructor, Brian Tiller, who took in a runaway and allegedly molested the boy, is sitting behind bars, in Greenwood County, on 750 thousand dollars bond.  Tiller worked at “Just for Kicks” in Greenwood.

What gives?

It’s easy to say that women get off easier than men, but that would not be true.  These 2 issues has to do with whether they had prior arrests or convictions.  It also has to do with the judge or judges that are overseeing the cases.  An attorney can step in on behalf of the accused and make comments to help that person out.

The bond that was set for her should have been for each charge. I think she was let off easy b/c she is a woman. Just like the woman a year or so back used the defense that she was to pretty to go to prison and it worked. She got a light sentence but she comitted the crime again and she still didn’t go to jail.

I don’t really know why there was a difference in the bonds. I have some sort of connection to both cases, believe it or not! If the news media wants a really good story, they should really look into the background of the victim in the Greenwood case’s parents. Especially the mother. Both parents are on probation from GA for child abuse/child neglect with this same child.  There is a very bizarre story connected to both parents. There is a very good and reasonable explanation on why belongins were kept in Mr. Tillers house. Both sides should be examined and reported on. There is a much bigger differenc than just the bond!

Her bond was set for each charge.  $10,000.00 for each charge.  She had ll counts.  That’s $110,000.00.  The Judge allowed 10% so her bond was $11,000.00.

Considering that the SC judiciary is a retirement home for state reps and senators who have been appointed by their friends when they retire or are voted out rather than elected by the people like they should be so we can hold them accountable for their actions by rendering them unemployed at will I’m not surprised the smallest bit by the incompetency in our states courts…..

Jessica’s Law when passed and executed will curtail much of this problem.  Straight abuse is another thing - when society does not make sure that there are at least an equal number of judges in both categories (liberal and conservative), we produce such a society as may be witnessed in New Hampshire, etc., where severe cases of sexual and other abuse results in nothing more than a slap on the hand to those who engage in such activity daily.  The result is that predators, etc., flock to those communities (States) where their “sick” practices are not only tolerated but encouraged.  Young people need to recognize that a healthy society is one that does not tolerate those who abuse society in any way - sounds harsh but it works.
