Top Model: New York City, Here We Come!

Start spreadin’ the news...Kim is leaving today.  Was anybody else a little indignant about Kim’s attitude?  I understand her dilemma to a certain degree.  I think $500 for a pair of shorts is pretty outrageous, too.  (Especially considering their photo shoot was about the plight of the homeless...go figure.) But it’s not like you have to agree with every single aspect of your job to do it.  And it’s not like she didn’t know that the clothes she’d be modeling were outrageously expensive when she tried out for this show.  Then again...looking at Kim...maybe she didn’t know.

Anyway, when she said, “It was a good experience, it’s just not for me” or something to that effect, I thought about all those crying girls in the last episode who were left out of the 14 finalists and how much they would love to be in her shoes.  She should have done a little more research or something before she got into this.  I’ll agree that there are good reasons to quit this show, but hers was not one of them.

Paulina Porizkova is gorgeous, huh?  And still stick thin.  I thought she was a little cruel...especially to Dominique.  Dominique is actually becoming one of my favorites. (She reminds me of Coryn from Cycle 5.) I think if I were her, I would have burst into tears when Paulina said she looked like a tranvestite.  Ouch!  But at the same time, I think Paulina will be a nice addition to the judging panel.  Did you see how she stood up to Nigel in her very first deliberation?  Wow!

I’m kind of stuck with the whole Fatima/Marvita thing.  (They say they’ve patched up their differences, but I’ll believe it when I see it.) I really like Fatima and she really is beautiful (especially in the scene where she straightened her hair).  I really don’t see a model when I look at Marvita and I don’t know, she seems a little tough.  I just think she blew everything with Fatima out of proportion.

The photo shoot was interesting.  I’ve never seen any homeless people with that much makeup.  I’ve never seen homeless people pose either.  Just seemed a little far-fetched, although it’s nice that Top Model is trying to speak up for causes.  Maybe they should sell some of those $700 handbags Kim was talking about and give the money to those people who need it, instead of using them as props in a photo shoot.  I hope that the girls they used were at least paid nicely for it.

Personally, I think this is an attractive group of girls this cycle.  Of course, Atalya was one of the prettiest.  I felt sorry for her, especially when Tyra said she wasn’t high fashion, but maybe she could do some commercial modeling, as if commercial modeling is something people settle for.  It’s kind of sad when the first girl is cut because she doesn’t really get much of a chance to prove herself.  But I guess somebody has to go!

Talk to me!  Tell me what you think of the girls so far.  Who’s your favorite?  Least favorite?  Most likely to succeed?  Oh, and don’t forget our Top Model casting call this Saturday!  You wanna be on top??  Come and see us at Westgate Mall from 11a-2p!
