Top Model: Ready for My Close-Up

I have to hand it to the editors on this episode.  Usually you can pretty much tell who’s going to be in the bottom two every week because they get the “Bottom Two Spotlight.” But they made it hard for us this time.  It seems that all the girls were equally spotlighted (which is easier to do with only four girls, I guess), so I really couldn’t tell.

I know you are probably going to fall out on the floor when I say this, but...I was really happy for Whitney this week.  I was actually glad she didn’t make the bottom two and I’m glad she’s in the top three.  There, I said it.

I thought it was kind of nasty when the three other girls (including Anya!) were sitting around talking smack about Dominique.  I mean, I know Dominique thinks way too much of herself and in the beginning, she did instigate some arguments with the other girls, but it seems that in the last several weeks, she is making an attempt to get along with everyone.  And when they were talking about how she eats all the time, I was thinking, “More power to her!” Don’t I wish I could eat M&M’s at 2:00 in the morning and still have her figure.  Okay, now that I’m talking about it, I don’t like Dominique very much.  I thought it was nice how she complimented Whitney when she was taking photos of Paulina.  This is the second week in a row that she has given props to Whitney!  Never thought a few weeks ago we’d see that, did ya?

I just want to say that I’ve seen the editor-in-chief of Seventeen magazine on this show about as much as I’ve seen the models.

Speaking of when they were taking photos of Paulina, I thought that was a great challenge.  I have to tell you, I cringed before Dominique even started because I just knew she was going to be rough.  Bless her little junk-food eating, skinny heart.  Anya was kind of painful to watch, too.  Fatima just seemed like a natural.  And I know Paulina complimented Whitney a lot (as did Dominique), but it just sounded like she was sucking up to me.  ("Amazing, incredible") Yeah, she’s not an experienced supermodel for nothing, Whit.

Anybody else laugh out loud when Anya was talking about Dominique draining her energy?  “She makes me melt.  I’m melting!” What she said combined with her accent was just too funny.  Sweet little Anya putting somebody down just sounds weird.  It’s like Mother Teresa slapping someone.  Or a PETA member doing a fast food commercial.  Or Ozzy Osbourne constructing a coherent sentence.

Well, I wasn’t completely surprised or really all that disappointed to see Dominique leave.  It was her time.  I have to admit, though, that she was entertaining.  She will be missed whether anybody wants to admit it or not.  Tune in next week for the FINALE!  Who will be America’s Next...Top...Model??
