Top Model: The Girl Who Blames the Taxi Driver

Okay…Brittany got on my nerves.  I’ve been defending the girl staunchly against all attacks from other girls, but I’ve just got to be honest.  She is way too sensitive and emotional.  And this is coming from a girl who cried the first and only time she poured salt on a slug.  (I had heard it was cool to watch.  It wasn’t.  It was horrifying.)

I didn’t understand why Brittany didn’t do better in her go-sees.  Her walk looked horrendous.  I wouldn’t have hired her either.  She rocked the prom fashion show and won that challenge.  Where was that walk on her go-sees?

Dionne brought up the fact that Brittany cried about her short-term memory during the Cover Girl commercial shoot, but she seemed okay to memorize lines for the acting challenge with Pedro.  I’ve heard a few other people bring that up.  They have a point.  I’m thinking maybe she was just really nervous about the shoot and maybe she used the short-term memory loss as an excuse.  Or maybe her nervousness brought her memory problems to the forefront.  I don’t know.

I can’t believe the way Brittany reacted about being late getting back from her go-sees.  SHE chose to make that last visit, even though she knew she didn’t have much time left.  She DIDN’T tell the taxi driver to meet her on Cooper Street, no matter how much she claims she did.  Plus, he told her it would take 15 minutes to get back to the modeling agency, and even though by the time she found her last stop there was only about 20 minutes left, she still chose to continue on.  She would’ve been late even if the taxi driver had met her right outside the door.  Then she sounded like a two year old pitching a temper tantrum outside the agency and she was very rude to Natasha, who was only trying to help her calm down.

At least she took responsibility for being late once she got to panel, but I think she should have apologized to Priscilla and the other girls as well.

Speaking of the go-sees, I thought it was very tacky of Dionne to keep asking for the clothes that the designers asked her to wear.  Very unprofessional and I wish they’d have brought that up at panel.  I wonder if Tyra even knew.  Also, I thought it was very slick of Renee to slip in a couple photos of her little boy when she found out one of the designers had just had a baby.  Good job, Renee!

I’m afraid of heights.  Very afraid.  I don’t mind being up high if I’m enclosed and feel safe (like on an airplane), but standing on bridges and the like scare me to death.  I could barely watch Jaslene and Dionne’s photo shoot on the top of the bridge.  It makes me sick to my stomach thinking about it right now.  I ran the Cooper River Bridge Run a couple of years ago and I had to run in the middle of the bridge and not look out at all.

The photo shoots were…interesting.  The men’s magazine shoot, aka hoochie shoot, was particularly disturbing to me when it came to Renee and Natasha because they are married.  Yes, I know it’s just a job and all acting, but I can’t help but think that any man would be a little bothered seeing his wife act like that with another man.  Maybe I’m just old-fashioned - but that’s okay with me.

Even though Brittany’s photos were great this week and Dionne’s were weak, the go-see experience was too much for Brittany to stay.  I knew she was finished when they introduced Priscilla as a guest judge.  It’s amazing how a girl can go from front-runner to being ousted in a matter of a couple of weeks, but the competition is getting fierce.  Next week, the girls learn about aboriginal story-telling and it seems Renee tries to turn the other girls against Natasha.  Just when I was starting to really like her!  See ya next week, mate!
