Wow! I actually was feeling sorry for Bianca while watching this episode. I kept thinking about when I was 18 years old and how traumatic it would have been if I’d have had my hair shaved off. I really thought she handled it pretty well and rose to the challenge and for once, I was glad that she wasn’t kicked off. I’ve never thought it was fair when they give a bad makeover and then eliminate the person who received said bad makeover. Although Bianca has one of the strongest, prettiest faces in the bunch and can pull it off more than most of the other girls. I began to see good things in Bianca that she (or at least the show editors) didn’t allow us to see before. I know they need a “bad girl” in every cycle to keep things interesting, but it’s kind of fun to watch when everybody gets along.
But, alas, that does not make for good reality television, does it?
Most of the makeovers were pretty good. I liked Saleisha’s hair before, but I can understand how they wanted to make her look edgier. Speaking of Saleisha, when they showed her in the beginning talking about how she would never be in the bottom two, I knew she was doomed for the bottom two. Famous last words. Kind of like when somebody says, “Hey, y’all, watch this!”
It’s nice to know that Chantal is not perfect, because I was beginning to wonder. I really like her and understood her frustration when one person was telling her to do one thing and someone else was telling her something completely different. But it couldn’t have just been Chantal, could it? Why would they give her conflicting instructions and not the other girls? Who knows - we see what they want us to see, right?
Sarah’s makeover looked great, but I’m afraid it’s going to turn out like Renee’s from last cycle where it’s a great cut for her, but she doesn’t really know how to style it, so it ends up looking like Dudley Moore most of the time. I was so happy when she won the challenge! A little concerned about her losing weight because she is already only a borderline plus and if she loses weight, she’s going to end up somewhere between the skinny models and the plus sized models and be in no man’s (or woman’s) land.
On that subject, I have a little rant…
Why is there such a big deal about height minimums in modeling? If the industry is opening up to plus sized models, why not petite models? I’m sure there are designers of petite clothing out there who would like their designs on runways, too. Most models are so far from what average women look like and now the industry is realizing that real, everyday women usually aren’t a size 0. So why can’t they realize that most women aren’t 5-10 either?
Okay, rant over. I liked Victoria, but she was really digging her own grave by constantly arguing with Twiggy. She seemed to really have it in for her. She didn’t even let Twiggy finish her sentence before she interrupted and got defensive. It makes me wonder if there’s some back story we don’t know about when she heard Twiggy say bad things about her mother or Twiggy killed her cat or something. There just seemed to be a lot of tension between those two. I really don’t think Victoria wanted to be there anyway, so it’s probably best that she’s gone. I guess she’ll have to console herself by going back to her Ivy League education. Poor thing.
Let me know what you think of the episode! Should Victoria have gone home? What did you think of the makeovers? Will Saleisha be humbled by her appearance in the bottom two? Is Bianca a changed young woman? See you guys after next week’s episode!
