Tropical Storm Fay leaves man critical after he flew through air

By Amy Wood

The video is unreal.  A man who is out trying to enjoy the beneifts of tropical storm Fay’s winds, pays for it, while kite surfing. He’s in critical condition after this accident, caught on tape by WFOR in Orlando.

Don’t know about you, but I’ve never wanted to cover a hurricane, let alone go outside in one willingly.  For some reason I’ve always felt it would be just my luck to have some sign come flying by and chop off my head.  Figured there are better ways to die.  This man’s daring fun, turned into a nightmare that could end his life.  And that impacts so many other lives.

So would you ever consider this kind of stunt?

My 78 year old mother went on a similar “flight” three months ago while in Capetown, South Africa.  Except her “flight” was accidental.  The area is known to have freakish winds that burst out of nowhere.  In her case, she was out on a pretty (and wind still) day walking in a park after just getting off a tour bus.  A sudden and strong burst of wind picked her up in the air and threw her 15 feet.  She said she felt like Dorothy in the wizard of Oz.  When she landed, she bounced off another person in the tour and landed on some rocks.  She fractured her right hip and needed a complete hip replacement, which is no small deal for a 78 year old woman.  Afterwards she realized her head had missed a large sign which likely would have killed her if she had not bounced off the other person.  Luckily, she has since returned home to Vancouver, Canada well on the way to a full recovery.

This is proof positive that we all get what we ask for!

...not in a hurricane, or even a tropical storm, but on a normal windy day, yes.  Calculated risks are o.k.  Not much thought of the potential consequences went into this one.

This man must not have anything to live for so he put his life in danger! If he has children….shame on you for being so SELFISH!
