Lockhart and Jonesville will merge into a new school with Union High. Parents, students and teachers have very strong feelings about it. Join the conversation below.

My son and his friends are very upset about this. He is a 10th grader at LHS. It’s nothing personal against Union High, they just wanted to stay where they were. Now since the consolidation has gone through, when the end of the school year comes, I have decided to pull all three of my children from this district. Not every parent can afford private school. I’m just thankful that I have a choice and am able to move out of county. I am a strong supporter of the smaller school environment and although the district to which we are moving doesn’t house a school as small as LHS or JHS there is still less than 700 students in the high school and I feel that is what is best for my children.
Having separate schools is a better way to go. The one on one basis with the teacher and student can be lost if the school is bigger. It’s like if Blue Ridge High School merged with Greer High School. You would lose the heritage and integrity that has made the High School what it is. This is just my opinion.
Is the fuss about overcrowding or something else?
