Union Fire Bug at it again
By Amy Wood
Wednesday, August 20, 2008
An arsonist on the move setting more fires in Union.
Police say they’ve had more than a dozen fires. And they think the same person is setting them.
Most have been in abandoned buildings, but this morning, a fire was set at a business that hadn’t opened yet.
So what do you think it will take to catch this fire bug?

Firebugs are bad news for citizens as well as firefighters. Being one (firefighter, not bug) for 29 yrs, I have seen the destruction a bug can cause, even if it is only brush or grass fires. They can spread quickly in a drought, such as the one we are in, and cause property loss. Today’s forensic technology and the fact that a bug eventually gets careless will get him caught at some point. The big point though, is will someone get hurt or killed before he gets caught?
All you can do is wait for the bug to get careless. I dont think we want to be camped out at these buildings to try to catch them because I doubt if they see anyone or suspect anyone is watching they wont set the fire. So I think we just have to pray no one gets hurt or killed until he gets careless and get themselves caught.
