image
Alvin’s back, getting treatment in the U.S., now part of his adoptive upstate family.

Minister Kerry Buttram tweeted tonight: “Thanks for your prayers for Alvin. I’m told he’s improving by the day but has many tough days ahead. “

Get the latest here, from Acres of Hope.  The picutres of Alvin leaving his hospital in Liberia, getting on the air ambulance and coming to the USA are very moving.  Alvin looks so excited and happy.

It was a matter of life and death.  A community effort to save a young Liberian boy dying of tuberculosis, being adopted by a family in the Upstate.  The hunt for a plane paid off.

Friends who’ve helped mobilize the Upstate’s warm embrace of this child, tell me tonight,  a plane has been secured and Alvin will be back in the next day or so.

Family members don’t want cameras and lights, just the fasted ride possible from the airport to the hospital where Alvin’s life saving medical treatment can begin, under the care of U.S. doctors.

In just three months the family will be responsible for the nearly 80 thousand dollar bill, for the medical flight back to the U.S.  So more communitiy fundraising is expected.
