SC First Family Christmas Card arrives

While an announcement Friday that Jenny Sanford filed for divorce took alot of the mystery away from what was going on with South Carolina’s first family, there has still been anticipation for the annual Christmas Card.  Many wondered what it would look like this year.

The first family Christmas Card is now arriving in mailboxes around the state.  Jenny and Mark are not pictured. The couples four boys are featured, and the card lists their names and is signed “The Sanford Family.”

There is always a short insert letter that accompanies the first family card,  and written by the first lady.  It reads:

“I have been uplifted by the many people who supported us with prayers, emails and encouraging notes this year as we faced our difficult personal challenge.  I cannot thank you enough, especially for your continued prayers as we move forward and mend our family in the best manner possible.  With the spirit set forth in Hebrews 12:1 “let us run with patience the race that is set before us”, we remain firmly focused forward and trust that in time we will be strengthened through this trial.”

“The boys have long provided me with a tremendous amount of strength, encouragement and joy.  They are my “gift from the Lord.”  I remain focused on fulfilling the role of first lady, continuing in philanthropic endeavors and in challenging others to lead healthy lives but I remain ever aware that, indeed my greatest legacy will be my children.

From all of us, may God continue to bless you and shower you with His love throughout this holiday season.”

The insert is signed by Jenny and lists Jenny and Mark Sanford’s names and separate addresses.
