“Teachable Moment”?  President Obama’s full comments after saying police acted “stupidly”

Whether you think President Obama was right or wrong, to say what he said, about police acting “stupidly” when a white officer arrested an African American Harvard Law Professor, I want you to put that aside for a moment and listen to the President’s FULL comments.

The president says his remarks (the stupidity stuff) were not helpful.  I think we all know that.  (More background on the story here.)

What stuck with me, is the portion of the remarks where President Obama said, “instead of pumping up the volume, spend a little more time listening to each other.”

He calls this a teachable moment.  And clearly it is for him, as President. 

But what about for you and me?  Is there a valuable debate and discussion emerging from his really bad choice of words?
