When the helping programs run out of money - think about helping a neighbor
A stunning note packed with a powerful reality. Our neighbors need us this year. They probably won’t ask, but you know who they are. Fixed income. Tough times. And the programs that can help them, will run out of money faster than ever. That means it is left up to me and you.
When a viewer wrote this note to me on Facebook today, I immediately wanted to share it with you.
There are some great ideas for ways you can help.
“Just came from WalMart buying the neccesties for living for the next month and $50. Didn’t get it all, that did not include any food. If anyone wonders what to get mom for Christmas or any one on a fixed income, get them large package of toilet tissue, paper towels, washing liquid, dish liquid, Kleenex, if they have a pet, get a bag of cat food, dog food, cat litter or their treats, trash bags, subscription to the local newspaper, pay a light bill, water bill, heating bill(for me a tank of propane gas that is what I heat with, cook with and also dry cloths with., I have sat being cold afraid I would run out before I could pay to have more delivered.), insurance on car or house and health, property tax, phone bill, cable bill, a tank of gas for the car, yard services for grass cutting or leaf raking (I am disabled and can not do those things), or volunteer to do some of those jobs for them, even dust or vacuum the house. Buy groceries for a week or month.Pay for one or more hair cuts. Amy I could go on and on, most of the above things are things that I struggle to pay each month on a disable social security and I am 66 year with declining health issues that will progress get worse each and every day and the cold weather doesn’t help. I know a lot of people my age that are in the same position or some worse off than I am and I would give anything to help them but I can’t even get by for myself sometimes.”
Reach out, help someone this winter and this Christmas.
