Funeral Set For 11-year-old Boy Shot To Death

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) - Services are planned for an
11-year-old South Carolina boy who was shot to death by a friend.
      Multiple media outlets reported services are set Monday for
Matthew Bellamy at the First Baptist Church of North Myrtle Beach.
      Police say the boy was accidentally shot to death Friday
afternoon at the home of the friend’s relative.
      Horry County Deputy coroner Tamara Willard says Matthew died at
Grand Strand Regional Hospital in Myrtle Beach from a single
gunshot wound to the abdomen.
      North Myrtle Beach spokeswoman Nicole Aiello says Bellamy and a
friend who is between 12 and 14 years old had just arrived at the
older boy’s grandmother’s house when the shooting occurred. Aiello
says police determined the older boy picked up a .22-caliber
semi-automatic rifle on a bed and it fired.
      No one has been charged.
