Strong Winds Bring Down Trees, Knocks Out Power

Strong wind, with gusts up to 45 mph hit the area Monday.
The wind brought down trees across the Upstate, those trees crashing into homes.
In Taylors, a huge tree smashed into a house, destroying the homeowner’s daughter’s bedroom. Luckily, the girl was at school at the time.
Trees on homes were also reported in the Spartanburg area.
The winds combined with saturated ground was a recipe for trees coming down.
Monday night, the wind knocked out power to a number of businesses near the Westgate mall, causing a headache at places like Walmart and nearby fast food chains, which had to turn away customers, as they went dark.
Look for breezy weather to continue into Tuesday but with overall winds slightly weaker.
High mountain snow showers will make some roads dangerous into Tuesday morning, and a Winter Weather Advisory continues for NC counties bordering TN.
Highs overall will be cool Tuesday with 30s in the mountains and mid to upper 40s around the Upstate. Light winds return by Wednesday.
