Teen Shot In Stomach While Hunting With Friend

HODGES - A 14-year old was shot in the stomach while hunting Saturday with friends.

Lt. Robert McCullough of the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources says that the teenagers was out hunting squirrels on property off of Miller Road in Greenwood County when he was shot in the hand and stomach by a 12-gauge shotgun. McCullough says that both of the teenagers were 14 years old and the shooting happened when the gun fell from leaning up against a tree and dischargd.

The teenager who was shot was shot was transported to Self Regional Hospital and ultimately to Greenville Memorial Hospital where he was in guarded, yet serious condition.

The teenagers cannot be identified due to their age.  McCullough says that the investigation is on-going and no criminal charges have been filed.
