Trooper Involved In Wreck On SC-24 In Oconee Co.

OCONEE COUNTY, S.C. - The Oconee County Sheriff's Office says a trooper with the South Carolina Highway Patrol was involved in a wreck Thursday.

Deputies say it happened just before 4 p.m. Thursday on SC 24 and Shepherds Way near the Tokeena Crossroads.

They say it involved an SUV and a marked Highway Patrol pickup truck.

Jimmy Watt with the Oconee County Sheriff's Office says a car was traveling on Highway 24 when it stopped to turn left into a private driveway.

Watt says the SUV came up too quickly behind the car and swerved into oncoming traffic and hit the trooper's truck.

Watt says the car was not hit.

Our coverage partners at the Anderson Independent Mail report the trooper, the driver of the SUV and a child in the SUV were taken to the Oconee County Medical Center.

They report all three were treated and released.

Watt says there were some minor injuries, but none of those were life threatening.

Watt tells 7 On Your Side the driver of the SUV was given a couple of citations by deputies, including driving without a South Carolina Driver's License.
