Governor Mark Sanford gone for several days, and the story explaining it doesn’t add up. Now we know part of the reason why. The story he was on the Appalachian Trail is bogus. The State newspaper reports he just returned from 7 days in Argentina. Last night his his car was found by a CNN producer in Columbia.
Do the missing Governor math:
HOURS after we first started calling the Governor’s office for answers, they offer up that the Governor has been hiking the Appalachian Trail. Why did it take so long to say THAT?
The State Newspaper’s earliest report said that the Gov’s cell phone had been last used in the Atlanta area. Exactly where in Atlanta is the Applachian Trail? (40 miles away is where it starts I’m told see Map)
The Governor has 4 sons, and chooses Father’s Day weekend to “clear his head” and “write something”
Last night, CNN reports a producer located Sanford’s SUV at the Columbia Metro Airport. They report a sleeping bag and other items could be seen in the vehicle. Read more here.

This morning, the Governor arrived at the airport in Atlanta instead of Columbia, saying he wanted to avoid reporters staking him out. He says he doesn’t know why his staff said he was on the Trail, when he’d been in Argentina. Read more in the State article here.
