Jenny Sanford “Staying True” REVIEW

Post your reviews of “Staying True” by Jenny Sanford.

I am sharing mine. And VOTE will you read it?

Amy’s Review:

In the prologue Jenny Sanford wastes no time, taking you right into the heart of her personal drama.  The morning the Governor returned from his escape to Argentina.  The trip she forbade. The call he made to her after talking to a reporter in the Atlanta airport, telling Jenny on the phone the affair was over, saying everything was “good.”

It takes chapters and chapters to get back into the heart of the affair and the aftermath.  But along the way we learn about a restless Governor Sanford, who excluded the faithful vow from the wedding ceremony, refused to go to her grandfather’s funeral, drew pictures of bikes for gifts, and was short with his staff and with her.

She details the day she found the emails in her husband’s desk draw, her personal panic trying to decide if she should confront him, call a lawyer, call a friend.  And then he walks in.

When did the boys find out? Did the first lady ever succumb to what anyone might, calling the other woman, the W word? Some of the details she shares are surprising.  Yes they were intimate.  Yes one of the boys asked if dad had sex with the other woman.

Jenny spends a lot of time seeming to blame the power trip of politics for her husbands demise.

The book does not tell us if the Governor and his “soul-mate” have continued their relationship.

And it leaves you wondering what impact a book like this, detailing the oddities of the man Jenny Sanford married, will have on his sons.
